Now to the task at hand. Today we are here to review his most recent project “4 Da Love of the Game”. Its a free tape Crown put out to keep the followers focused. It has a lil Wayne mixtape kind of feel. Hard remixes. Crown has always delivered in the past so let’s see what he has in store. Track for track.

Track 1 – “Practice”

Track one is a remix to Tekashi 6ix9ine’s hit single “Gummo”. It’s starts off with a sample from the infamous Allen Iverson interview about practice. Crown goes on to spit through the entire beat wit uno hook. Fiery song full of punches. This tracks he definitely raps as if he has a chip on his shoulder!

Track 2 – “Pick Up Game ft DK Guwop”

This song has a funky beat. Crown switches of his flow a bit. The songs has a strong energy and is fun. Featured by another artist, DK Guwop (Part of the group 300lbs of Guwop) who is known for his eccentric uptempo style. This is definitely a beat knocker for the car.

Track 3 – “Away Game”

This track slows the tempo down. This is  definitely a vibe song. Something to smoke to, if you smoke. A stand out lyric, for me, was “Can you scream my name so loud that I don’t hear them hatin’ “. Flow is fire on this track. Almost like he doesn’t pause or take a breath

Track 4 – “Blouses”

This track had great swagger. Baller type song. Could see this being a single type of song. With a fun video. Would have loved to hear him rip this entire beat with no hook. The song ends with a line from the infamous Chappelle Show skit which featured Chappelle playing Prince as he beats Charlie Murphy in basketball. He ends the game with the line “Game…blouses”.

Track 5 – “HOF”

This song has a classic Jay-Z feel. Some great flow changes during the track. Cocky and brash lyrics. This track is a definitely a “I’m feeling myself” type of track. Great punches, lyrics, and metaphors. Dope track

Track 6 – “Foul Out”

This is another track where  Crown spit through the entire beat. Crown’s has a major presence on this track. He defiantly wants you to know that he is here. The beat and the aura go together perfectly to create this track. It gives you a triumphant feeling. Like the underdog has won.

Track 7 – “Down By 20”

We go back to a slower tempo. Another vibe track. He’s speaking a lot from his heart on this track. Very relaxed at points. Then suddenly he changes his flow and hypes the track up. Great mix in the track. He even squeezed some great subject matter.

Track 8 – “Buzzer Beater”

The beat definitely gives me a Cali feel. His flow is A1 and seems to be a great trend on this tape. He tells a deep and detailed story of his come up in this music and how he built his team. He definitely played this very well. Creative. Probably one of the best songs on the tape.

Track 9 – “MVP”

Unique beat. Hot. I can hear this being a single, as well.  Great mixing on this track. This track has a great feel. Great lyrics and punches. And, once again, a crazy flow.

Track 10 – “Overtime ft Castle”

The beat is insane! The person featured on the song sounds like Andre 3000. Over all this track is fire. Great cadence.

Final Opinions

This is a great tape if you’re trying to get the just of what Crown does. Fire lyrics, fire flow, and great subject matter. Great project teaser to lead to a major album or big mixtape. The theme was very well intact and I can appreciate the work put into the samples. I give this a 8.5 out of 10. Definitely industry level. The only critique I have is that he let the fans hear what he would sound like in album mode. I know those type of things take patience so we will be waiting. I’d definitely be on the look out for this Florida rapper. I left the link to the Soundcloud tape below.
