The back story behind the Drake & Meek Mill beef.

meek-mill-drake

First off, I think for people to thoroughly understand the situation they should understand, first, what a “Ghost writer” is and what a “Collaborator” is. A ghost writer is someone (usually underground) who writes a song for someone (usually mainstream or well known) and the artist performs/records the lyrics word for word. The ghost writer is not credited but simply paid because it is to appear that the bigger artist created the lyrics themselves. A Collaborator is someone whom is respected and is hired to bounce ideas to create content. That person is either paid or credited in the final production. Thus, it helps the underground artist receive notoriety by being credited in a mainstream artist’s work.

Being a signed artist I know what it’s like to collaborate and how important it can be for other artist. I was the “Southern rapper” within the record label so I was amongst artist who could help me break into new sounds and I could also help them create new styles. We gain each others fans. It’s respect of artistry and a great marketing/advertising tool.

Now that that is out of the way, let’s start from square one. The fuel hit the fire when Meek Mill made tweets showing that he wasn’t pleased that drake didn’t tweet to promote his album. Here are the tweets below

MEEK-MILL-TWEETS Meek-Mill-Drake-Diss-Tweets-5 images

Inside of the tweets he states that he knows Drake didn’t write his own verses. So, what song was he talking about? Meek was talking about the verse that Drake sent him for their collaboration “R.I.C.O.”. There were more tracks exposed but we will get to that later. So now the question is how did Meek find out that Drake didn’t write the verses?

171897023

“If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” was actually supposed to be a mixtape produced and hosted by DJ Drama. The project was scrapped at the last minute and Drake ended up making the tracks an album. Its rumored that Drake turned the project into an album to end his contract with Cash Money (seeing that he only had one more album left in his contract) which was rumored when the Lil Wayne and Birman/Cash Money beef was at it’s peek.

072415-music-quentin-miller-drake.jpg

During the production of “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” Drake discovered and contacted an underground artist by the name of Quentin Miller. Quentin Miller was working at a bakery at the time Drake reached out to the rapper. He hired QM to collaborate on tracks for the album along with other tracks. The tracks were rumored to be recorded at studios that DJ Drama works within. Thus, how the tracks were leaked. DJ Drama shows that he wasn’t pleased about the tracks being leaked from his studio

Screen Shot 2015-08-02 at 3.40.04 PM Screen Shot 2015-08-02 at 3.40.26 PM

Here are the leaked tracks below.

Quentin Miller didn’t take long to deny that he wasn’t and never will be a ghost writer for Drake. Here is what he posted on his Tumblr account below

Winter 2014… I was just another guy working a job he hated with a passion for music…. And somehow found myself on the phone with One of my idols..

i told him i worked in a bakery and his exact words were “Fuck that, your destined for greatness”…

Hearing that from someone that I’ve been studying since 2009, bar for bar…. Theres no way to describe that..

Most of the project was done before i came in the picture.. i remember him playing it for me for the first time thinking “Why am I here?” like.. what does he need me for??

The answer is.. Nothing…

I watched this man piece together words in front of me…

I watched him write/ replace bars 2- 3 at a time on 6pm in NY.. I witnessed him light up, go in and freestyle madonna….

I took notes from the best in the game….

I remember him Showing me the thank you notes in NY before the album dropped.. Showing me the QM, telling me they put me on the credits (Ghostwritter???) … He attached my name to something that touched the world..

When nobody would pay attention, drake saw something in me and reached out… Of all people… drizzy..

Two artist in exact opposite spaces in their career.. We came together and made something special..

I am not and never will be a “ghostwriter” for drake.. Im proud to say that we’ve collaborated .. but i could never take credit for anything other than the few songs we worked on together ..

Thats all i have to say on it.. back to this 1317 shit…

– Q.M.

By this time the diss tracks between Drake and Meek Mill were already in full effect. Drake ended up dropping 2 diss songs before Meek Mill dropped his first one. The general consensus says the Drake won the battle by a land slide, even though the fans didn’t really feel that Drakes first song was strong enough. Tell us what you think about the tracks below.

Now there are those who are backing Meek Mill in the beef saying that not writing your own material is a violation to Hip-Hop. Especially, since Drake is considered to be one of the top artist in the world as of right now. He holds records such as…. (below)

10 Artists With Most Billboard Hot 100 Entries
1. ‘Glee’ Cast — 207
2. Elvis Presley — 149
3. Lil Wayne — 122
4. James Brown — 91
5. Jay Z — 82
6. Ray Charles — 74
7. Aretha Franklin — 73
8. Drake — 72
9. The Beatles — 71
10. Elton John — 68
Read More: Drake Breaks Beatles Record on Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart | http://theboombox.com/drake-breaks-beatles-record-billboard-hot-100-singles-chart/?trackback=tsmclip

He also has written and co-written R&B songs for major artist. One of his most popular song’s written was Alicia Key’s “Unthinkable” which is rumored to be written towards Nicki Minaj. Me personally, I feel like the reason why this stab at Drake doesn’t hold weight because it is well known that Drake is very capable of writing his own lyrics. Yet, my opinion can’t out weigh the laws of Hip-Hop. With that being said, do you feel like what Drake did was robbing the culture? Or do you feel like what he did was helping an up and coming artist?

Boosie – Daytona Beach, Fl – Axess Event Center – Trinity Enterprise Live (Video)

IMG_3537_Fotor

This past weekend Axess Event Center hosted what may have been the biggest Hip-Hop concert the city has seen since the days of BCR! Courtesy of Trinity Enterprise Live (the promotional team) and DJ Pat, Keedie’s Corner was able to get stage “Axess” to this event!

IMG_3425_Fotor

The venue definitely reached its capacity. The residents of Central Florida were raving about this event for the past 2 months. Boosie’s fan base grew significantly after his release from jail, in which he did 5 years and was even on death row at one point.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

There were a number of well known Daytona Beach,Fl natives who attended the event including Fire Boy Records artist and executives Sticks, Fire Boy Mike and David Rosario. Also, on the 1’s & 2’s Real Souf Dj’z (DJ Pat, DJ Daytona 5 (in video it says Will Tuck. Apologies)REALSOUFENT@GMAIL.COM, DJ-CLO, and William Bell). Artist Flowda Fresh showed love to the event as well and DeLand Hood News made his on stage appearance as well.

The man of the hour, Boosie, set the stage on fire as soon as he walked out. He performed hits such as “Crazy”, “No Juice” and “Set it Off”! He didn’t get to perform as long as he should have because the Fire Marshal shut the venue down. There were a lot of discrepancies as to what led to the early shut of the venue. We got a chance to speak with Adam Elam, CEO of Trinity Enterprise, and this is what he had to say to the people…

First off I would like to apologize to everyone that didn’t get a chance to enjoy the event. Being the owner of one of the major Southeastern promotional companies I didn’t expect to generate the amount of people from the small area. Doors opened at 10:30pm and at 9:30pm there were already 1,000 people outside.  Axess Event Center and our staff did our best to get everyone in the building, especially the ones with pre-sale tickets. By 11:30pm the Fire Marshal and The Daytona Beach Police Department wanted to close the doors  because of the numerous amount of people outside of the venue. For those who didn’t get to enjoy the concert we will have another event on March 28th and if you still have your tickets we will be doing ticket exchanges. So you will be able to enjoy Boosie Bad Azz & Bad Azz Ent. On behalf of Trinity Enterprise and Axess Event Center we apologize once again and please forgive us because the situation was out of our hands and into the hands of the law enforcement. If you have any questions contact me at trinityenterpriselive@gmail.com. Thanks for the support and love

Safaree finally speaks on the Nicki Minaj breakup

image

There has been a lot of lashing out from Nicki Minaj when it came to this split up. Words such as “corny” and “whack” have been used to describe former boy friend Safaree. Nicki has even been rumored to be dating MMG rapper Meek Mill as they were seen in several photos together.

image

On the other hand, Safaree was pictured with his Nicki Minaj tattoes covered up with other art.

image

But for the most part Safaree has be quiet throughout all the drama.

After hearing that Nicki was trying to publically humiliate him he decided to meet with The Breakfast Club and speak his side of the story. See what he had to say below.

Artist in the spotlight; Fash Cash

Born In Daytona Beach, Fl., and raised in DeLand, Fl., Fash Cash is an up and coming artist with a style all her own.  Representing Hav-Not Muzic Group, the R&B singer has been singing since the age of 6. Her passion for music led to her to begin song writing at 12 years old. Where most young girls were worried about the latest fashion trends and hairstyles , Fash Cash had her own agenda and becoming a star was in her plans. Read the article below to get a glimpse into her life.

  • What was it like growing up where you’re from?

When I was growing up, I was back and forth between Daytona and DeLand, so I experienced life growing up in Daytona Beach, as well as in DeLand. I would say growing up where I am from is no different than any other hood. You have your good experiences and you have your bad experiences, but for the most part you experience a lot growing up, whether it be good or bad.
Life has taught me to continue to be humble because being humble and having a personal relationship with God will take you further in life than trying to do everything yourself.

  • What was you turning point in life or an eye opening event that made you understand your purpose more clearly?

The turning point for me was when I wrote and recorded my first single “Lullaby Music”, because for years, I did nothing with my voices or writing abilities -I shied away from music. When I recorded that track, I felt it… I knew that I was to be sharing my gift with others, moving them through music.

  • What are some of your influences in the music field?

I grew up in one of the greatest eras of R&B history! So, naturally I was influenced by the biggest names of 90’s like Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, Faith Evans, Aaliyah, Deborah Coxx, Brandy, Tamia, the list goes on…

  • Do you have any songs or videos the readers can check out?

Yes! I have “Lullaby Music”, “Married Man”, and “Without You” which can be listened to on my SoundCloud at https://soundcloud.com/fash-cash and also on my website at http://www.fashcashofficial.com.
The video “Married Man” can be viewed on Daily Motion, MUZU, and VEVO.

  • Your track “Married Man” is really deep. A lot of women settle for married men, what is your take on this?

I don’t want no married man! I don’t want nobody that belong to somebody else! I feel that in any instance, if you are aware that you are involved with a married man, you should leave. There’s no sense in carrying on a relationship with someone who doesn’t belong to you; someone who is already spoken for. You have to respect yourself and know your worth.’Cause everybody deserves someone they can call their own.

  • Tell me about your video shoot “Married Man”, I heard it was interesting.

I had a good time on the set of “Married Man”. I initially went in to do a photo shoot with Skyy Johnson, the photographer over at Skyy Johnson Studios. When I came on the set Dannie Ace was just finishing up her photo shoot. I was a little nervous because it was my first photo shoot, so when my shoot began, we cued in “Married Man” so that I could loosen up a bit. “Married Man” brought a different vibe to the set and Skyy decided that we go ahead and shoot the video for “Married Man”. I was combative at first because i just knew I was not prepared for a video shoot, but I came around to the idea. Dannie Ace agreed to feature in the video and we started filming. Just so happens, it came out GREAT!

  • Do you prefer to be on stage or in the studio, why?

Honestly, I haven’t been on stage in a while, but I can say that I enjoyed the feeling. I’m always in the studio, so at this moment I would rather be on stage performing.

  • What project are you currently working on?

I am currently working on some material for both my EP “Lipstick” and my mixtape “Beach Girl”.

  • Do you have any shows coming up?

I am currently studio bound, finishing up music for my EP “Lipstick which is set to release Spring, 2015. But shows are definitely in the works for 2015.

  • As a performer, you are a public figure without even trying to be. Will you stand with Keedie’s Corner and speak out against the senseless killings that are happening in America? How do you feel about the relationship between black men and police / authority figures?

Honestly, I feel as though the relationship between black men and police and other authority figures is the new form of the relationship between slaves and slave owners. The hatred, the oppression, the profiling, the killings, the inequality, the public displays of injustice gone unjustified against black men forces me to believe that we are entering an age that the police must be policed. But each individual’s heart will be judged in due time. We all have to answer to someone higher than ourselves.

Right now, people keep up with “Love & Hip-Hop : Atlanta” stars as if they were part of their own families! The Vh1 show has taken off well beyond it’s expectations since its 2012 launch. The show has spawned off individual celebs…and power couples as well.

Benzino (All Hip-Hop Magazine) and his fiance, Althea Heart, have been on a tear these last couple of months. The couple has been rocking stages performing songs off their latest projects and the world has taken notice.

One song in particular has been getting a lot of talk and has also created it’s own replay value. Althea’s single “Ghetto Love” is what the crowd of Axess Event Center (Daytona Beach,FL) anticipated anxiously!

In her interview with Kaynah Lassiter (of Trinity Enterprise) she stated that the song described the love story between herself and Benzino. She also stated that they planned to get married and have yet to decide whether it would be on the television show or not.

The sweet tale of “QueenBerries”

Keedie’s Corner recently caught up with Nikki Jones to discuss her “QueenBerries”, which are a royal treat among the Central Floridians. She has a delightful twist on strawberry decor and she gave us the opportunity to share her story. Read along as we tell her tale.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Where are you from Ms.Nikki?

  • I’m from a small city called Crescent City.

How long have you lived in the Central Florida area?

  • I’ve lived in the Central Florida area for about 10 years now.

How long have you been making your famous “QueenBerries”?

  • I’ve been making “QueenBerries” for about 4 months now.

And you also make Cocktails?

  • Yes, sweet cocktail jars!

wpid-img_5997174557978.jpeg

What motivates you to go hard in life?

  • All of my strength comes from the Lord, FIRST & my 5 yr. old daughter Derielle, everything I do is for her!

Do you have anything else in store?

  • I’m always brainstorming ALWAYS! (LoL)

What would you describe as good customer service in your line of work?

  • I’ll just say PATIENCE is a virtue.

How do you balance it all out? School, berries, cocktails and family?

  • GOD! I’m not just saying it in vain sometimes I find myself praying ALL day, I have to give credit to God. It’s easy to step off track or get unbalanced so to speak, when I feel like giving up he reminds me he hasn’t bought me this far to leave me! I have to keep my eyes on the prize!

Do you find yourself eating your creations?

  • Not really, I’ll taste a strawberry to make sure my batch is pretty sweet, but my daughter on the other hand doesn’t get sweets often so she looks forward to mommy messing up a “QueenBerry” so she can eat it!

What do you do in your personal time?

  • I like to shop, spend time with my family & friends, SLEEP!  All my friends & family knows I LOVE to sleep, I’ll take a nap in a quick minute! (LoL)

What are some goals you would like to accomplish?

  • To become a home owner, go back to school, & be happy every single day!

What level of success would you to have to reach to feel accomplished?

  • It’s hard to answer that. I’m a dreamer, a doer, a thinker, I see possibility everywhere, the sky’s the limit for me! Even when I feel accomplished I’ll set another goal to reach! I’m constantly challenging myself & having fun in the process!

What’s the most creative design you have made on your berries?

  • Um that’s kind of hard I’ll say so far the leopard print…or maybe the tuxedos.

What are some of the weirdest request you have received from your customers?

  • Oh my God if only I could share them all! The weirdest/funniest one someone wanted me to draw was a crab on the berries. (LMBO) I’m no artist & my space on the berry is only so big.  Everyone wants to be “different” until it gets ridiculously funny!

My dear friends who I send pictures, ideas, etc to Shala, Falon, Shayla, Nacole, Felicia, Kellee, Derrick, Brittany & my favorite cousin Tangela Williams I love each one of y’all in a very special way!

Any words of wisdom or encouragement?

  • “Positivity is the KEY honey! Things are going to happen life happens, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has happened as a gift. There’s a blessing in every lesson. Use it as an opportunity to grow or a stumbling block to keep you from growing! Walk in your purpose!”

Get on Track with Singer / Song Writer Marquise Henderson

The Corner highlights a young man making a way for himself in the music industry. Marquise is an accomplished songwriter, in addition to being a singer, vocal producer, model, actor and an artist. He has endured many hardships being born in Texas and raised in Daytona Beach, Fl. For Marquise to elevate in his career, he had to leave his comfort zone, he now resides in Peoria, IL. This move led him to start his own journey in life and Keedie’s Corner is here to tell his story.

•So how long have you been working in this field?

• Professionally I have been working as a songwriter since 2008. I have worked on a number of projects and also I have worked with a plethora of different artist, including; Cassie (Bad Boy), N.O.R.E. (Def Jam/ Roc-La-Familia/Babygrande Records/Conglomerate), Stevie J. (Bad Boy/Love and Hip Hop Atlanta) and  Benzino/Dave Mayz (Source Magazine/Hip Hop Weekly Magazine) are a few clients.

●What made you lean towards this career path?

● Ever since I was young I’ve always had a passion for music, and a niche for singing and writing. It just felt right for me to pursue music 100%. My mother was a great musician who was murdered at a young age. From hearing everyone in my family talk about her story and how she could’ve really made it, I felt almost as if it was my destiny to follow in her footsteps and accomplish what she was supposed to.

What was your best achievement in this field thus far?

● I feel as though my best achievement thus far is having the songs that I’ve written being  played on the radio, like the N.O.R.E. and Cassie song I penned, “Baby Girl”. It was Dope because not only did I write it, they kept my vocals on the track from where I referenced the track for her. I was super excited to see how good of a reaction the song received! Another achievement for me was to be apart of the first season of Love And Hip Hop Atlanta with Stevie J and Benzino. That was a major blessing and experience I will never forget!

What is your main hardship or difficulty working in this line of work?

● I feel the main difficulty working in this industry for most is not understanding the years of hard work behind the scenes you have to do before anyone knows who you are. I literally use to write songs and come up with concepts before they knew my real name, and not some made up nickname they gave me. For some, instant gratification is something they feel they need and unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. It takes years of hard work before anyone knows who you are.

● What is a funny or lighthearted moment you can remember in your career?

• I remember when I was at my first video shoot with Stevie J (Bad Boy/ Love and Hip Hop) and Benzino (Source Magazine/ Hip Hop Weekly), we were in between scenes and this girl asked me for a picture and my autograph. I looked at her like she was crazy and hesitated for a minute and then Stevie J laughed at me and was like, “Give her your autograph and your number, Welcome to Stardom Young Boy”. Looking back at that day I was one of the main frontmen for the video and I still hadn’t realized it yet. Everytime I think about it I burst out laughing.

● What advice do you have for up & coming songwriters who plan to pursue this career path?

• Work hard, stay humble, and be patient. So many people want to just do 1 or 2 things and they feel like they’ve earned their way into stardom. It doesn’t work like that, being humble and understanding the amount of hours it takes to become a professional is very important. Without dedication and patience you wont survive.

IMG_3261665132986

● Are you affiliated with any companies or organizations?

• Hip Hop Weekly Magazine, Plush Recording Studios, Orlando Recording Studios (ORS) and Heavi Boy Records.

● What past work or future work can we look up or look forward to?

•This summer I am releasing an EP entitled “Love Marquise”, the first of 3 installments. Im releasing those through itunes, google play, and my website https://www.lovemarquise.com
