•So how long have you been working in this field?

• Professionally I have been working as a songwriter since 2008. I have worked on a number of projects and also I have worked with a plethora of different artist, including; Cassie (Bad Boy), N.O.R.E. (Def Jam/ Roc-La-Familia/Babygrande Records/Conglomerate), Stevie J. (Bad Boy/Love and Hip Hop Atlanta) and  Benzino/Dave Mayz (Source Magazine/Hip Hop Weekly Magazine) are a few clients.

●What made you lean towards this career path?

● Ever since I was young I’ve always had a passion for music, and a niche for singing and writing. It just felt right for me to pursue music 100%. My mother was a great musician who was murdered at a young age. From hearing everyone in my family talk about her story and how she could’ve really made it, I felt almost as if it was my destiny to follow in her footsteps and accomplish what she was supposed to.

What was your best achievement in this field thus far?

● I feel as though my best achievement thus far is having the songs that I’ve written being  played on the radio, like the N.O.R.E. and Cassie song I penned, “Baby Girl”. It was Dope because not only did I write it, they kept my vocals on the track from where I referenced the track for her. I was super excited to see how good of a reaction the song received! Another achievement for me was to be apart of the first season of Love And Hip Hop Atlanta with Stevie J and Benzino. That was a major blessing and experience I will never forget!

What is your main hardship or difficulty working in this line of work?

● I feel the main difficulty working in this industry for most is not understanding the years of hard work behind the scenes you have to do before anyone knows who you are. I literally use to write songs and come up with concepts before they knew my real name, and not some made up nickname they gave me. For some, instant gratification is something they feel they need and unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. It takes years of hard work before anyone knows who you are.

● What is a funny or lighthearted moment you can remember in your career?

• I remember when I was at my first video shoot with Stevie J (Bad Boy/ Love and Hip Hop) and Benzino (Source Magazine/ Hip Hop Weekly), we were in between scenes and this girl asked me for a picture and my autograph. I looked at her like she was crazy and hesitated for a minute and then Stevie J laughed at me and was like, “Give her your autograph and your number, Welcome to Stardom Young Boy”. Looking back at that day I was one of the main frontmen for the video and I still hadn’t realized it yet. Everytime I think about it I burst out laughing.

● What advice do you have for up & coming songwriters who plan to pursue this career path?

• Work hard, stay humble, and be patient. So many people want to just do 1 or 2 things and they feel like they’ve earned their way into stardom. It doesn’t work like that, being humble and understanding the amount of hours it takes to become a professional is very important. Without dedication and patience you wont survive.

● Are you affiliated with any companies or organizations?

• Hip Hop Weekly Magazine, Plush Recording Studios, Orlando Recording Studios (ORS) and Heavi Boy Records.

● What past work or future work can we look up or look forward to?

•This summer I am releasing an EP entitled “Love Marquise”, the first of 3 installments. Im releasing those through itunes, google play, and my website https://www.lovemarquise.com

Fashion & Ink with Kelow Wood

kelow2

In the year of 2014 and beyond, ingenuity is almost as necessary as water in terms of survival…at least in the world of business. When you buy or invest in a product it can be for an assortment of reasons. One being that you can’t produce the product yourself or  you simply respect the craft. We at Keedie’s Corner idolize the fearless entrepreneurs in our community, especially those whose make it a point to be trendsetters versus those who simply try to squeeze a dollar out of the up-and-up trend.   Kelow struck us as some one who can be considered the definition of “Getting it from the muscle”. Don’t let us be the sole judges. Check out her work. The tattoo artist, model, and clothing spokeswoman/sales representative (Drügs) is definitely a force to pay attention to. We had an exclusive interview with the young entrepreneur, see what she had to say.

What is your name? (that you use for booking)
 Kelow Wood
What are your occupational rolls?
I started out modeling at 18 but gave it a break to gain more knowledge on it (modeling). After that I started rapping for fun. One of my homeboys (DB Beats) put me on to that & I enjoyed it for a while! I was featured in a few videos & I was on the “Melting Pot 1”! It was a project put together by my homie J.Snipes out of North Carolina. That got me some recognition in the city! I fell off with rapping because I no longer had a studio. I’ve always had a passion for art & could always draw, so I got into tattooing which is my main money maker. I’m still learning & perfecting my craft but I definitely love doing it! Right now I’m just working on getting my clothing line up & running. I’ve been wanting to do it since I was in middle school so finally being presented with the opportunity feels great! I’m an all around entrepreneur just out here trying to make it!
Where were you born and what is you current residency?
I am born & raised in Florida! Fayetteville, North Carolina is like my 2nd home but I’m so Florida! I currently live in north west Florida but will be relocating to Orlando in July 2014. I’m very excited! I will be starting school there for fashion, as well as working on whatever projects I have going or coming at me!
How long have you been working in this field?
I’ve been tattooing for 2 1/2 years and I’ve been modeling for about 5 years!
What made you lean towards this career path?
I initially went with modeling because of my love for fashion growing up. I always wanted to model but once I seen all the steps it took I knew I had to take a break to learn. In the process I’ve always had the gift of art so I started exploring it. Later I got introduced to tattooing by an ex-boyfriend. He showed me how to set up my machine and everything else I learned on my own! I love tattooing so I decided it was something I would put my heart into!
What was your best achievement in this field, thus far?
I don’t think I’ve reached my greatest achievement with any of my occupations! I would like to master tattooing and to get my clothing line in every store possible. That would be a great achievement!
What is your main hardship or difficulty working in this line of work?
The toughest part about tattooing would probably be helping someone decide on what exactly they want & just dealing with a person not being able to take pain, it effects my work! Also correcting someone else’s work can be a hassle!

What is a funny or lighthearted moment you can remember in your career?
Umm, I don’t really have one I just love when people share their ink stories with me! It’s always interesting to hear the ideas behind someone’s work or the meaning of the piece!
What advice do you have for up & coming women who plan to pursue this career path?
With any career path I would tell all women don’t follow your dreams, chase them! You can achieve anything you put your mind to as long as you focus, believe, & put God first! Trust your hustle! Everything is hard work but it pays off! Also invest in yourself! You can’t expect to be a boss if u don’t!
Are you affiliated with any company or organization?
Right now I am independent as I’ve always been, I’ve been offered deals, many different company’s have tried to work with me but I’m just being patient for the right one while in the process of building my own empire! I am affiliated with a few people but right now I’m just on the grind & being my own boss! I am open to bookings & working with people though most definitely!

What past work or future work can we look up or expect to see?
First, you can look forward to my clothing line coming this summer məˈjestik strictly for queens 🙂 I will forever be a tattooist. I love doing that! I just linked up with the gorgeous Roxxanne Montana, owner of the clothing line Drügs “Do Right U Gain Success”. Shout out to her,she is doing her thing! I will be an official Drügs dealer once I receive my contract from her! I will have Drügs gear men & women’s for sale so that’s big! I’m just looking to make moves this summer. Like I’ve said, I’m open to work so I just tell anyone to get at me. You can always contact me via email or Instagram, I’m an Instagram junkie lol!

Insider : Paris Dion (Model)

 10154367_10202666713662264_1675798725_n

Follow us as we look inside the life of model Paris Dion (formally known as Lillian Graves) 19 year old native of Daytona Beach, FL.

Born and raised in Daytona Beach, FL, Paris is the youngest of five siblings, so maturing quickly seemed almost inevitable.  Things began to change a lot when Paris reached high school. During her freshman year at Mainland High School her mother was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. This was hard for the young Paris to understand. She began to grown self esteem issues dealing with the negative rants that came from her mother. She described it as making her feel “ugly”. It wasn’t always bad, it was just difficult for her to understand the disorder at the time.

One day ,while Paris was walking through her college campus, a man stopped her to admire her appearance. It seemed as it he was giving her the typical pick up lines “You’re so beautiful! Are you a model?”. The guy gave her a business card. She tossed it in her purse and quickly forgot about it. She decided to clean her purse out, some odd months later, and discovered the ruffled business card. Turns out the guy was a photographer. Instantly she felt a sense of belief knowing that someone believed in her beauty enough to display it on their platform. She gave the number a call. The man remembered her and set up a photo shoot. Needless to say Paris set the shoot on fire leaving the rest was history.

Paris says that she feels a lot of people don’t consider modeling an art. She says one has to realize their inner beauty and know how to channel and express it properly.  Paris explained the feeling to the body giving off a glowing radiation from the skin that shines in any room.

“Modeling is taking direction & ideas/concepts to another level by expressing them through posses. Expressions and body language tell a story. Also, fashion, to me, is something like having an outfit that doesn’t necessarily match in color but it still just feels right in your soul. Fashion is something that should be embedded in you for life

After a couple years she realized modeling & fashion was a fairly tough business, especially in the small town that she was in.  She completely uprooted her life in the small city to move to hot & flashy beaches of Miami, FL. In Miami she witnessed a greater potential of where high fashion could really grow to if concentrated on completly.  After a few months she decided to travel up north to New York City where she currently resides.  New York was deemed the fashion capital of the world  this year by Global Language Monitor, tipping out London and Paris.

“One word that best describes me is ambitious. I’m so driven by my passion and goals in life. I’m going to make something of myself in this world if I don’t do anything else. I have the drive, motivation, passion, and work ethic. My mind is always focused on my next major moves. Among the many photo shoots and videos, along with the launch of my fashion boutique “Summers in Paris” in the near future, I will be working in close relations with Fire Boy Records; Florida Montana, and Fire Boy Mike’s Energy Drinks as their first and only “Fly Girl”. This article will make my second magazine feature. I’m excited about my future because at one point in time some one told me I would never make it. I am Paris Dion. I am an established model. I am here!!!
