Sony Pictures’ first official teaser for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” hit the web Thursday, offering a first look at Jamie Foxx’s Electro in hot pursuit of the webslinger through the skies of New York.

According to Deadline.com, the clip, seen above, launches Sony’s massive global marketing campaign leading up to its May 2, 2014 release.

Versions of this first trailer were made in more than 12 languages, including Russian and three different Chinese dialects. It launched simultaneously online around the globe and on every Sony platform around the world, including the Times Square billboard.

The sequel brings back Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. As the trailer below shows, Foxx’s Electro is just one of the villains challenging Spider-Man this time around. Electro’s alter ego, Max Dillon, was given the power to control electricity after being struck by lightning while repairing a power line.
