Hey readers it’s Keedie, I recently had the pleasure of meeting a family member I didn’t know and also learning about her talents as we got acquainted. Porshia, in the same breath had respect for my niche and decided to let me tell her story. So here is a review on Porsha Ponder, the rose that grew from concrete (like 2Pac would say).
Hi, I’m Porshia Ponder, a license hair braider. I am committed to my work and I specialize in making my clients feel beautiful with the services I provide. I’m working towards having my own salon, I’m turning my hobby into a career. I’ve always had a interest in doing hair, which turned into a great passion of mine.
I grew up in Augusta Ga. I remember I feel in love with doing hair when I was around 12 years old. In middle school girls use to let me play in their hair in P.E.. But as I got older, life got rougher, going from house to house even becoming homeless. Through all the hardship I still had my love for styling hair. Moving to Daytona beach in 2006 I joined DBCC for their cosmetology program. Then my life hit another rough patch, I met my child’s father and got married, all the while I was thinking life would get better but it didn’t. I stayed married for 5 years, I’m a survivor of a domestic violence relationship. While life had its rough moments, my love for hair was an escape from real life. No matter what you go through your passion will never leave, the fire may get low but it will always burn. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. In May of 2016 I received my AA degree in business, now my plan is to receive my cosmetology license. No matter what I never quit, I always remember I have a daughter that looks up to me. I never want her to experience the type of hardship that I did growing up. Because of all that I’ve overcome, I know that if I dream it I can achieve it, with the help of the Lord all things are possible.
