We’re back with a new artist in the spotlight, we have Texas native D-Lo Suave on The Corner to share his story. This young multi-talented musician is making waves in the vast sea. Mr. D-Lo Suave is a man with many gifts and he has brought his story to Keedie’s Corner. Read along and get a feel for the young mogul in the making.

My name is DeLisha (Duh-Ly-shja) McPeters. I’m a 23 year old Rapper/Singer/Songwriter/Entrepreneur From Dallas, Texas, better known by the moniker “D~Lo $uave”.
I got into music when I was younger, probably around 1st grade from dancing. My mom paid for my sisters & I to be in a local dance group in Killeen, before we moved to Dallas. We traveled around the country for dance competitions, events & church functions. Which gave me tons of experience & stage presence when it comes to performing… I absolutely love to dance! Growing up, if you couldn’t dance or play basketball you wouldn’t have much luck with the ladies & you would more than likely get dissed for a boy that could! Dancing is my main reason for making music so I can have an excuse to be a dancer! I also had a friend in Killeen who’s step dad had his own home studio so he and I would always practice singing, dancing & rapping.
When I moved to Dallas I took a break from music & started playing basketball, which is a big influence on my music & how I make it today. I still play basketball here & there because physical activity induces creativity. Whenever I hit a block I’ll often go shoot a few shots or run some drills to clear my mind & get back to writing.

My writing process is pretty simple to me but probably complex to the average listener or someone hearing one of my songs for the first time. I layer my lyrics with double meanings & entendres so every time you go back to listen to my music you’re likely to find a new/deeper meaning to what I’m saying, in turn getting to know me a little better. I also try to be as unrelatable as possible, lol. Its something I tried being experimental thinking “this will be so personal, no one will understand me”. But it actually had a reverse effect on my fans as being told. In that kind of situation I’m glad I proved myself wrong haha.
Music has changed my life in so many ways, from being introduced to new things & new people, to helping motivate me to be the best father I can be. My music & my children inspire me to always put my best foot forward. Today I’ve killed countless shows trying to build my fan base. I’m also planning on dropping an Ep this year which will be my first project. I’ve got a few names but haven’t come to a final decision just yet. I’m currently an independent artist looking for endorsements, sponsorship & management. Lastly, I’m a real person, life happens & I’d say that’s probably the main reason I haven’t been able to put out content on a consistent basis. I have to handle both the music & business side of my career but don’t worry, it’ll get done. So be on the lookout for D~Lo $uavé.
